K-SWAP CRX HOOD CRUX
Share
This is our CRX. It's a K20 Type-R long block with a matching Type-R transmission riding on spoon wheels and a JDM EF8 front end.

We have a couple goals with this car. The first being to crack off a 10 second pass with a stock long block K20. The other being to make this car as nice as possible.
K-Swaps in EF chassis often have quite a few cut corners. The reality of the situation is that these cars have a few challenging obstacles to overcome when executing a K-Swap. The current hurdle for us is the hood. We really want to keep the OEM hood, but we refuse to cut it.

We know you could just lower the mounts, but that would require the use of a different oil pan which we don't want to do.
Mark tried modifying an OEM valve cover. That did not work. Then he tried this Skunk2 low profile valve cover. This also did not work.

This has been may hours of jacking around. For the time being, we will just be switching back to the crusty carbon fiber hood which has already been trimmed to fit the K valve cover.
We have not entirely surrendered to the OEM hood, but that's as far as we're going with it for the time being.
